Stockholm: The city of dirty windows and relaxed nature
Stockholm was another city I visited as a part of my design foraging mission to find plants to represent different cities for my new City bracelet collection. To me, Stockholm is the city of dirty windows and relaxed nature, let it grow style gardens and secret spots among the trees. To me, Stockholm feels like home.
Must haves:
- electrical scooter or a pair of comfy shoes
- a backpack
- a water bottle
Djurgården park
Djurgården is a green island, located close to the city center and it’s the home of one of the most wonderful wild parks I’ve ever visited. Here I foraged leaves of Woolly Burdock, for one of my City bracelets designs. Djurgården is so big you can get lost in it and that makes it a perfect spot for strolling under the cover of the trees and enjoying nature. If visiting during summer months, you can jump into the Djurgårdsbrunn canal at one of the wild swimming spots – it’s a bit filthy but also unforgettable. However, if you’re not much of a swimmer, there’s plenty of attractions, restaurants and cafes located in the area.
Modern gallery
Grab a drink at the Modern gallery café and enjoy the Picasso art installation placed in its ‘’let it grow’’ style garden.
Humlegården
Humlegården, originally a royal garden, was opened to the public in 1869 and today it’s one of Stockholm’s greenest spots. In the middle of the park, in the shade of the trees stands a statue of a botanist Carl Linnaeus, also known as the Flower King.
Stockholm from the water
Jump onto the ferry and explore the archipelago, water view of Stockholm is absolutely stunning.
